On 30 January, Liberty Foundation had the privilege to rehome 31 guinea pigs from a research establishment and take them to a sanctuary where they will be cared for and adopted out to loving homes in the community.

The epic rehoming started in Sydney, stopping at the Central Coast and then travelling a few hours further north to deliver the guinea pigs to their new home. You can see a video below.

The little piggies were a mix of male and female ranging in age from 5-10 weeks old. They were surplus to the needs of the research establishment and ready to start the next chapter of their lives.

The night before the rehoming we learned the news that our friend Helen Marston had passed away. We were shocked and saddened.

As the former CEO of Humane Research Australia, Helen was a great inspiration to us and was instrumental in the very early stages of setting up Liberty Foundation. I will always remember her for her kindness, encouragement and inspiration as a true warrior for the animals.

As a mark of respect, we dedicated our rehoming on 30 January to Helen, we know she would have got a kick out of it.

Helen, your legacy lives on.

Thank you for everything you gave to us.
