Liberty Adoption Centre

Our precious animals from research now have a place to call their own. Located at Wyong, on the Central Coast of NSW, the Liberty Adoption Centre is a safe haven for rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice, when the leave research facilities.

The Centre is less than an hour’s drive from Sydney and a short walk from Wyong train station. It is open to the public from Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm each day. You are encouraged to make a booking online if you’d like to meet animals with the view of providing foster care or adoption.

You can find more information on our animals available for foster and adoption here.

You can make a booking to visit the Liberty Adoption Centre here.

You can also volunteer at the Centre, by registering with us to attend a short training session. These sessions are held at convenient times at the Centre and give you the basic skills you need to assist with animal handling, socialisation, cleaning and feeding.

You can register to become a volunteer here.

The Centre is an inclusive place where everyone is welcome and our animals enjoy a calm and quiet environment where they can learn new skills, relax, and have fun.

We have innovative enclosures and housing systems for our resident creatures including massive gymnasiums for rats, naturalistic environments for mice, free-run areas and a large soft playroom where you can spend time with the animals one-on-one.

One of the advantages of adopting from Liberty Foundation is that our animals do not carry common diseases that are contagious amongst rabbits and rodents in the community. These diseases could be transferred onto your clothes or skin from an animal even if they do not show signs of illness.

For this reason we ask you to wear clean clothes when you visit the Centre, sanitise your hands and wear disposable gloves and mask provided by us, when interacting with the animals.

Our animals are not immunocompromised or unhealthy, we just want to keep any diseases out so our residents remain safe and well.

The centre is located at 6 Rose Street, Wyong. Just look out for our pink Liberty signage out the front.

The ground floor of the Centre is wheelchair accessible.

The Liberty Adoption Centre is proudly funded by the NSW Government.
