The new Liberty Adoption Centre is now officially open! A landmark moment for animals formerly used in research, the pilot centre was launched at an event on 17 June, attended by The Hon. David Harris MP and invited guests.

The centre provides a haven for small animals while they await adoption into their forever homes and is made possible by funding provided by the NSW Government.

Listen to ABC Radio’s coverage of the centre launch:

Through its management of the centre, Liberty Foundation will continue to blaze a trail, setting the benchmark for the care of ex-research animals and paving the way for the next chapter of their lives.

The centre is home to rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice and has a volunteer program for anyone wanting to give back and support animals from research. You can find out more here.

There are nearly 100 animals currently living at the centre who are ready for adoption now. You can find out more about adoption here.

The Liberty Adoption Centre is located at 6 Rose Street, Wyong, less than an hour’s drive north of Sydney, or a short walk from Wyong train station.

You can visit the adoption centre from Tuesday-Saturday (10am-4pm). If you’d like a private meeting with any of our animals, we recommend you book an appointment time to visit.
